Tenant Feature: Meet Laura

We are a caring community that supports each other. This month, we’re pleased to feature one of our tenants, Laura. Read on to learn more about her and her story.

Laura’s journey at St. Francis Residence II, where she has lived since April 2nd, 2018, is extraordinary. Since joining our community, Laura has been a beacon of hope, kindness, and inspiration for everyone around her. Her selfless acts of service have enriched the lives of her fellow residents and made Saint Francis Residence II a warmer, more vibrant place to call home.

Laura’s story is one of remarkable resilience and transformation. Originally from Philadelphia, she overcame a challenging seven-year period of homelessness to build a new life in New York. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, and she has channeled her strength into supporting others within our community.

Her dedication to personal growth is evident in her commitment to health and wellness. Laura’s participation in water aerobics at the Chelsea Recreational Center is not just about her fitness goals; she actively encourages others to join her, fostering a spirit of unity and mutual support. Her enthusiasm for staying active has inspired many to embrace healthier lifestyles.

Laura’s involvement in the community goes far beyond physical activities. She guides our on-site and off-site events, constantly reminding and motivating others to participate. Her leadership of the weekly bingo group brings joy and camaraderie to residents. At the same time, her willingness to assist with daily tasks—whether setting up coffee hours, helping the kitchen staff during lunch, or nurturing the plants in our garden—reflects her boundless generosity.

Her unwavering positivity and genuine desire to uplift others truly set Laura apart. She can see the best in every person and situation, and she constantly encourages her neighbors to reach their fullest potential.

Laura redefines what it means to be a resident at St. Francis, showing us how much we can achieve when we embrace opportunities with an open heart.

Laura is more than just a tenant; she is the heart of our community. Her compassion, leadership, and enduring spirit make her an irreplaceable part of St. Francis Residence II, and she continues to inspire us all with her remarkable journey and limitless kindness.
